This week, our team took part in NewCo Los Angeles. The festival provided a unique opportunity to visit with companies impacting creative office expansion in L.A.
NewCo Los Angeles, which is a mashup of creative office tours and a business meetings, was extremely well organized and allowed us access to the individuals shaping the technology and media growth in Silicon Beach. Below is a brief summary from Joe King and Matt Sprowles, both commercial real estate tenant and landlord leasing representatives, regarding their take-aways from the event.

What was your impression of the NewCo LA event?
“It was a great opportunity to network and learn more about the core business of many of the tech companies throughout LA. It’s very important for us to know our client’s needs beyond what they want their next office space to look like… we need to know their long term goals, the challenges faced along the way, and what drives them to succeed” – Matt Sprowles
“NewCo was definitely a great event. There were many opportunities to visit the best tech companies and hear from the entrepreneurs and their vision of the future.” – Joe King
Is there a company or two that stood out? Why?
“I found Surf Air to be one of the more innovate companies, they are taking on real problems in the aviation industry in very creative ways. Mike Jones at Science Inc. had an insanely impressive presentation on app development and the new generation of users.” – Matt Sprowles
How do you view the near-term growth prospects for start-up companies in Silicon Beach?
“I think the companies that are remaining lean and bootstrapping are the ones to keep an eye on. Many of the VCs we heard from are doing less deals and being much more cautious in using their funds going forward. Point being there is going to be less money so use it wisely… is paying $6 PSF really worth it long term?” – Matt Sprowles
“Silicon Beach is here to stay. There’s tremendous growth and opportunities in the tech community. ” – Joe King
